Meghalaya’s Nambie Jessica Marak Triumphs in MasterChef India, Honored by Chief Minister Conrad Sangma

Northeast Desk, 24th November: Meghalaya’s Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma has expressed delight at the success of tribal chef Nambie Jessica Marak in MasterChef India. The Chief Minister took to Twitter to announce that Nambie Jessica Marak, a semi-finalist in MasterChef India and a culinary genius, was honored at the Tri Hills Ensemble.

In his tweet, Chief Minister Sangma said, “At the Tri Hills Ensemble, we awarded culinary genius & #MasterChefIndia Semi-finalist, #TribalChef Nambie Jessica Marak. We are so proud to see her take center stage with her culinarily masterpieces, presenting fusions of tribal cuisine. We wish her the very best.”

Nambie Jessica Marak, hailing from the remote village of Upper Rangsa in the West Khasi Hills, has secured a spot in the top 12 of MasterChef India 2023. Beyond her exceptional culinary skills, she is the visionary behind ‘Eat Your Kappa,’ a YouTube channel dedicated to Northeast Indian cuisine and culture, with a special focus on the Garo cooking method.

‘Eat Your Kappa’ showcases the Garo dish called Kappa, celebrated for its light yet flavorful composition made with soda. Nambie’s culinary journey and success in MasterChef India not only bring honor to Meghalaya but also shed light on the rich and diverse tribal cuisine of Northeast India. The Chief Minister’s recognition reflects the state’s pride in Nambie Jessica Marak’s achievements on the national culinary stage.
