Meghalaya’s Rakesh Saha Among 30 Climate Champions of Young India
Northeast Desk, 24th September: Rakesh Saha, a passionate environmental advocate from Meghalaya’s West Garo Hills District, has been named one of India’s 30 Climate Champions, a distinction awarded by UNICEF India and YuWaah. Saha emerged from a pool of 1,200 applicants across the country, securing a coveted spot in this prestigious group.
As part of the recognition, Saha has been granted a six-month fellowship with the National Youth Climate Consortium. During this fellowship, he will focus on advancing climate education among youth in Meghalaya, working to raise awareness and mobilize action around critical environmental challenges in the region.
Saha holds a Bachelor’s degree in Zoology from Don Bosco College, Tura, and a Master’s degree from Mizoram University. His academic journey is further complemented by his active involvement in wildlife conservation efforts, underscoring his commitment to environmental preservation.
This recognition highlights Saha’s dedication to climate action and positions him as a leading voice for youth engagement in tackling environmental issues in Meghalaya and beyond.
