MHA Introduces Helpline and Online Gateway for CAA-2019 Applicants

National Desk, 13th March: The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) is set to roll out a helpline aimed at aiding applicants seeking Indian citizenship. This helpline will offer toll-free assistance to individuals across India, allowing them to access information related to CAA-2019. The Ministry announced that the service will be operational from 8 AM to 8 PM, starting from March 13.

Moreover, in a bid to assist those facing persecution in Afghanistan, Pakistan, or Bangladesh, the MHA has launched an online gateway for citizenship applications. Individuals belonging to six minority communities in these countries—Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains, Parsis, and Christians—will be eligible for citizenship based on their religious affiliations.

The Ministry has confirmed that applications can be conveniently submitted online through the designated platform.

Additionally, the government is gearing up to unveil the ‘CAA-2019’ mobile app, aimed at streamlining the application process further.

Following four years since its contentious approval, the Center has finally enforced the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019, on March 11. The regulations were announced just days before the anticipated announcement of the Lok Sabha elections.
