Milestone Celebration for Youth Development at Meghalaya’s “Building Young Leaders” Programme

AMPATI, Nov 11 – The “Building Young Leaders” programme, a groundbreaking life skills initiative aimed at empowering youth across Meghalaya, marked significant achievements with a recognition ceremony held at St Claret Higher Secondary School in Ampati. This event celebrated the programme’s role in equipping adolescents with essential skills for personal and leadership growth.

The event saw enthusiastic participation from students, teachers, and education officials. Chief Guest Crystal Ripamchi N Sangma, BDO of Betasing C&RD Block, and guest of honour Taposh Ch Marak, SEO from the Joint Director of School Education and Literacy office in Tura, applauded the program’s impact on youth development. Program Coordinator June Hannifer Warbah from the Meghalaya Institute of Governance chaired the event.

Central to “Building Young Leaders” is the empowerment of teachers, who undergo specialized training in self-awareness, communication, decision-making, and sexual health. These trained educators incorporate life skills into classroom learning, guiding students toward self-development.

Students shared heartfelt stories about how the programme has positively impacted their lives, with standout participants receiving recognition as program ambassadors. These young leaders are now tasked with inspiring their peers to explore leadership pathways and self-improvement.

Supported by the state government and launched this year, the programme continues to grow, with regular monitoring to ensure high standards. With its promising results in schools statewide, “Building Young Leaders” is set to shape a new generation of empowered youth across Meghalaya.
