Milestone JCC Meeting Held in Mizoram for North East Sericulture Development
Northeast Desk, 7th February: In a historic first for Mizoram and a significant departure from tradition, the Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) meeting of Central Silk Board officials and Sericulture Departments of the North East States convened at the Convention Centre, Thenzawl Golf Course.
Chaired by Central Silk Board Member Secretary P. Shiva Kumar, IFS, the meeting focused on Sericulture Development in the North-East, marking a milestone in regional collaboration.
Notably, this marked the first time the JCC meeting was hosted outside Guwahati, Assam, signifying a decentralized approach to regional development efforts.
During the meeting, Shiva Kumar, alongside other officials, visited the Eri Cocoon Storage Facility under the Silk Samagra 2 Project of the Sericulture Department.
Expressing satisfaction with the project’s success and the quality of Eri Cocoon produced by local artisans, Shiva Kumar emphasized the importance of these initiatives in advancing regional sericulture.
Discussions also revolved around strategies for enhancing silk sales and market penetration, underscoring the commitment to holistic sericulture development across the North East region.
