Minor Clash leads to Curfew in Hailakandi
Guwahati: An indefinite curfew has been imposed by the District Administration in Assam’s Hailakandi district following a clash between two groups.
On Monday a minor argument between an E-rickshaw driver and passengers took a turn towards a massive clash. The clash broke out at the Serispore tea garden area and shortly after the fight two groups belong to different communities gathered around the place. The minor clash turned into a communal clash witnessing people attacking each other with stones and sharp weapons.
Following the issue, the district administration imposed a curfew in several of the parts of Hailakandi. The areas under curfew are Serispore tea garden, Narainpur part-II village, Itarkandi part-I village, and Chandpur village.
During the clash, several people along with two police personnel were injured.
The injured are currently being treated in a nearby hospital.
