Guwahati: A minor girl from Nagaon district’s Dhing committed suicide on Monday after she had allegedly received rape and murder threats.
The girl who is a Class-VIII student was approached by a local with a “love proposal” which she had rejected multiple times. Following this, the person identified as Nazmul Haque had allegedly threatened to rape and murder the minor.
The minor who was felt mentally harassed by these threats had consumed poison to kill herself. Although the girl’s family had taken her to a medical facility immediately after the incident, she had succumbed at the hospital before she could receive any proper treatment.
Her family has now filed an FIR against Haque and has demanded strict actions against him.
Police have started an investigation in connection with the matter.
