Agartala — In a significant political development, Tripura BJP Mahila Morcha President Mimi Majumder stated on Saturday that a large number of minority women in the state have come forward in strong support of the “One Nation, One Election” initiative. The remarks came following a discussion session organized by the BJP Mahila Morcha that drew widespread participation from various communities.
Addressing reporters after the event, Majumder said the level of enthusiasm and support from minority women was “overwhelming,” and highlighted it as a sign of shifting political sentiments. “India had followed the One Nation, One Election model in the past, but it was discontinued. Now, under the vision set forth by former President Ramnath Kovind and the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the idea has returned to the national conversation,” she said.
She emphasized that most participants supported the initiative, citing its potential to save time, resources, and government manpower. “Governments spend a considerable portion of their term in election mode. If we can hold simultaneous elections, that time can be better used for development and public welfare,” Majumder explained.
She also highlighted the political awakening among minority women in Tripura, asserting that they are ready to reject the influence of communist ideologies. “What we saw in Uttar Pradesh, where minority women actively supported the BJP and experienced real development, is now being echoed here in Tripura,” she remarked.
Majumder reaffirmed the BJP’s commitment to inclusive development and ensuring that the benefits of both central and state schemes reach the last mile, particularly the marginalized. She concluded by expressing confidence that the One Nation, One Election model would gain further momentum with growing public support, especially among women.
