Sports Desk, 13 June: Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS) athletes Mirabai Chanu and Bindyarani Devi’s request for a foreign training camp in St. Louis, USA, was recently granted by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (MYAS), Mission Olympic Cell (MOC).
In preparation for the upcoming Asian Games, the Olympic and Commonwealth Games medal winners will train at St. Louis’ SQUAT University under the direction of Dr. Aron Horschig.
The pair will have Indian Chief Coach Vijay Sharma and team physiotherapist Tesneem Zayyad with them during their 65-day overseas training camp.
The government will pay for their air travel expenses, food and housing, health insurance, local transportation, gym memberships and doctor visits among other costs.
