Guwahati: Two miscreants allegedly looted a bag containing Rs 5 lakh from a woman at the Patha quarry area of Guwahati on Wednesday.
The victim has been identified as Jaya Rajkhowa.
According to police, the incident occurred when the woman had withdrawn the money from the State Bank of India (SBI) at Satgaon area and travelled in a battery rickshaw to the Patharquarry centre.
The woman then boarded a local cab, which dropped her off near Hindustan College.
The bag that the woman was carrying was reportedly seized by the burglars as soon as she stepped out of the vehicle.
The entire encounter was captured on camera. However, neither the criminals nor their vehicle registration number could be determined.
Rajkhowa lodged a complaint at Noonmati police station in this regard.
Rajkhowa’s bag was snatched by two unidentified men who had been following her from Satgaon.
The victim has filed a complaint in the Noonmati police station. She has also given authorities a description of the robbers’ looks.
An investigation into the incident has been launched.
