Missing Assam Man Reunite With His Family After 12 Years by Odisha Police
Guwahati, 27th October: In an emotional and long-awaited reunion, Suren Kalita, a 70-year-old man hailing from Bokra village in Assam’s Kamrup district, was joyously reunited with his family after an agonizing 12-year separation. Kalita’s departure from home in pursuit of work more than a decade ago had left his family in despair, fearing they might never see him again.
The story of Kalita’s life took a dramatic twist when he was discovered by the Puri police, wandering the streets of Pipili. Initial interactions were hindered by a language barrier, but the mention of “Assam” in Kalita’s words sparked a glimmer of hope. The Puri police promptly reached out to their counterparts in Guwahati, sharing Kalita’s photograph, ultimately leading to his reconnection with his long-lost family.
In a shocking revelation, Kamalpur police confirmed that Kalita had been missing for a staggering 12 years. The news of his recovery reached the ears of Kamalpur’s BJP MLA, Diganta Kalita, who wasted no time in dispatching a representative to Puri to bring Suren Kalita back to his homeland.
Upon his return, Kalita was greeted with a warm and traditional welcome, filled with tears of joy and relief. Choyon Kalita, his wife, expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the Odisha Police for their relentless efforts in reuniting them after enduring such a lengthy separation.
