Missing Man’s Body Found in Gabharu River Incident
Guwahati: A body who had been missing since the water level in the Gabharu River rose during the immersion of a Goddess Durga idol in the Sonitpur district of Assam was recovered by the rescue team on Thursday.
The deceased has been identified as Lakhiram Koch.
According to reports, Koch’s body was recovered buried in sand.
Rescuers were able to save them after several persons drowned during the immersion of a Goddess Durga statue in Missamari’s Gabharu River on Wednesday.
After celebrating Durga Puja festival for four days, the people went to bid farewell to Goddess Durga in the immersion and as the water level rose, several people drowned.
The locals rushed on the scene quickly and rescued those who had fallen into the river.
