Mizoram: 34-yr-old Woman Arrested for Alleged Murder in Aizawl

Northeast Desk, 18th March: A 34-year-old woman was apprehended on Sunday for her suspected involvement in the killing of a shop owner in the new market area of the town, announced state Home Minister K Sapdanga during a press briefing.

Irene Lallawmzuali, a resident of Aizawl’s Ramthar North, was identified as the primary suspect in the murder case of 52-year-old V. Lalhmingthangi from the Tuikual South locality, he disclosed.

Lallawmzuali was detained from her friend’s residence in the Zemabawk locality after an extensive search conducted by the police, Sapdanga confirmed.

According to Sapdanga, Lalhmingthangi’s body was discovered inside her shop on Sunday morning, triggering concern among her relatives after she failed to return home the previous night.

Upon receiving the report, law enforcement and forensic teams promptly arrived at the scene to launch an inquiry.

After collecting statements from locals and conducting a meticulous on-site examination, multiple police teams were dispatched to locate the primary suspect.

Lallawmzuali was eventually tracked down and apprehended from her friend’s residence in the Zemabawk Dinthar locality, situated on the northeastern outskirts of the state capital, he added.

Subsequent to her arrest, compelling evidence, including a machete and belongings believed to be owned by the deceased, were seized from Lallawmzuali. Following interrogation, she admitted to the crime, as per police sources.

The accused has been charged under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including murder, destruction of evidence, and theft. Minister Sapdanga assured that a thorough investigation into the case will be conducted.
