Mizoram: Aizawl District Magistrate Cracks Down on Illegal Fuel Sales
AIZAWL— In a decisive move to curb the illegal sale of petrol and diesel, Aizawl District Magistrate Er. Lalhriatpuia has issued an order prohibiting unlicensed fuel sales across the district. The directive, enacted under BNSS Section 163 (1), strictly bans individuals without proper licenses from selling petrol or diesel.
Illegal fuel sales have been a persistent issue in Aizawl city and surrounding areas, prompting the district administration to take firm action. The order explicitly references Sections 5 and 6 of the Mizoram Motor Spirit and High-Speed Diesel (Prevention of Malpractices in Supply and Distribution) Act, which deem such activities unlawful. Violators will face penalties under BNSS Section 223.
The crackdown aligns with broader efforts by the Mizoram government to improve governance and public service delivery. During a recent New Year gathering at the Chief Minister’s Conference Hall, Chief Minister Lalduhoma called on his office staff to prioritize excellence in governance. He emphasized the importance of efficiency and accountability while commending the staff’s contributions to the state’s progress.
The district administration’s latest measures are expected to deter black market fuel operations and ensure fair distribution practices, reinforcing the state’s commitment to better governance and rule of law.
