Mizoram: Assam Rifles Organizes Joint Security Meet in Churachandpur District

Northeast Desk, 26th January: Assam Rifles (AR) conducted a Joint Security Meet and interaction program at Songdo Village in Churachandpur District, Manipur, on January 24. The event, attended by the Local Defence Committee, Civil Society Organizations, and Company Commanders of Assam Rifles, Army, BSF, and CRPF, aimed to enhance cooperation and communication between security forces and local stakeholders.

Additionally, AR organized a lecture on water conservation through rainwater harvesting at Zou Khunou Village, Churachandpur District. The lecture aimed to raise awareness among locals about water conservation strategies, minimizing losses, and building resilience against water-related challenges by preserving natural water sources.

In a separate incident on January 24, an Assam Rifles jawan fired at his colleagues in a camp in South Manipur before turning the weapon on himself. The Manipur Police reported that the jawan injured six colleagues (all non-Manipuris) before taking his own life.
