Mizoram: Assam Rifles Seize Heroin Worth Rs 43.4 Lakh in Champhai District; 1 arrested

Northeast Desk, 27th March: In a coordinated operation, Assam Rifles and the Mizoram Excise and Narcotics Department have intercepted a significant quantity of heroin in Mizoram’s Champhai district, the Assam Rifles revealed in a statement.

Acting on actionable intelligence, a joint team conducted a raid in Zote village, situated near the India-Myanmar border, resulting in the confiscation of 62 grams of heroin on Monday.

The operation also led to the arrest of one individual associated with the illicit drug trade, according to the statement released by the Assam Rifles.

Subsequently, both the seized contraband and the apprehended suspect have been handed over to the excise and narcotics department to initiate further legal proceedings, as outlined in the statement.
