Mizoram Assembly Election 2023 Results: BJP candidate K Hrahmo wins Palak constituency
Northeast Desk, 4th December: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate K Hrahmo secures victory in the Palak constituency, triumphing with a margin of over a thousand votes in the Mizoram elections.
Hrahmo clinches the Palak constituency by garnering a total of 6,064 votes in the electoral competition.
This win adds one seat to the BJP’s tally in Mizoram, where the party is also leading in another constituency.
Despite the BJP’s gains, the Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) is poised to establish the government in Mizoram, holding a significant lead over its rival MNF with victories in 27 seats. In contrast, ZPM trails behind with only ten seats.
The election witnessed robust participation, as over 80 per cent of Mizoram’s 8.57 lakh voters exercised their right to vote. The state assembly election featured 174 candidates, including 18 women, vying for seats in the 40-member assembly. To secure governance in Mizoram, a party must surpass the halfway mark of 21 seats.
