Mizoram: Bike Rally in Aizawl District Promotes Voter Awareness for Lok Sabha Elections 2024

Northeast Desk, 13th April: In the run-up to the General Elections to Lok Sabha 2024, a vibrant Bike Rally organized by SVEEP Aizawl district roared through the streets of Aizawl City, drawing attention to the significance of voting in the democratic process.

With over 60 riders, including women bikers, the rally traversed the length of Aizawl City, spreading awareness about the upcoming elections. Led by Chief Election Officer Shri Madhup Vyas, IAS, the rally carried the theme ‘Voting – My Civic Duty’, emphasizing the importance of democratic participation.

The rally commenced from Bawngkawn Brigade Field and culminated at Silaimual, with enthusiastic participation from two prominent associations, Matchlezz Motor Cycle Club, Mizoram, and Biker Girls, Mizoram.

CEO Madhup Vyas commended SVEEP Aizawl District for organizing the rally and stressed the role of voter engagement in strengthening democracy. He highlighted a disparity in voter turnout between local MLA elections and parliamentary elections, urging participants to combat urban apathy towards voting.

DEO Smt. Nazuk Kumar echoed Vyas’s sentiments, emphasizing voting as a fundamental civic duty. She urged young voters to recognize their pivotal role in shaping the nation’s future through their votes and highlighted SVEEP’s initiatives to promote electoral awareness.

As the countdown to polling day begins, initiatives like the Bike Rally aim to ignite a sense of responsibility and empowerment among voters, especially the youth, ensuring a robust turnout and a strengthened democratic fabric.
