Mizoram Celebrates 38th Statehood Day with State Day of Prayer
Aizawl: A grand gathering took place in Aizawl on Mizoram’s 38th State Day, with thousands coming together for the State Day of Prayer at AR Ground. The event, held for the second time since Mizoram became a state, focused on collective prayer and reflection.
The theme for this year’s observance, “Thy kingdom come” (Matthew 6:10), was inspired by the Fiji Challenge, a concept emphasizing national transformation through faith and repentance. Fiji’s experience, where widespread prayers contributed to the country’s spiritual and economic revival, served as a guiding principle for the event.
Keynote speakers, including Chief Minister Lalduhoma and Frederick Lalrindika, led the proceedings, while a massive 1,500-member choir performed the “Hallelujah” chorus. The event saw the participation of religious and political leaders, members of the Mizoram Church Leaders Committee (MKHC), Council of Churches in Mizoram (CCM), ministers, MLAs, and government employees.
Mizoram became the 23rd state of India on February 20, 1987, after years of insurgency. Today, faith and unity continue to form the foundation of the state’s identity, as evidenced by the solemn observance of the State Day of Prayer.
