Mizoram CM Zoramthanga Tenders Apology after Daughter Assaults Doctor
Guwahati: Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga issued a public apology for his daughter’s improper conduct with a state doctor.
CM Zoramthanga, through social media said, “We have nothing to defend or justify ourselves regarding the degrading behaviour of our daughter toward the doctor. We sincerely apologise to the public and the doctor.”
The apology follows a protest on Saturday by up to 800 doctors against an alleged attack on a doctor by Zoramthanga’s daughter Milari Chhangte.
The medical professionals belonged to the Indian Medical Association (IMA). IMA members wore black badges at work all day long as a sign of protest against the assault.
According to reports, it is alleged that Milari visited a clinic on Wednesday to consult from Aizawl-based dermatologist Dr. Zonuna. However, Zonuna refused to check as she did not make any prior appointment and was asked to schedule an appointment like others.
Chhangte was captured on camera striking the doctor with her bare hands. Additionally, she was observed yelling at the doctor before being escorted out by the security personnel.
