Mizoram Delegation Calls on Union Minister Jitendra Singh; discusses demands
Guwahati: The Lai, Mara, and Chakma Coordination Committee from Mizoram met with Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh on Saturday in New Delhi to discuss some of their unmet requests.
Jitendra Singh oversaw the fair development of the North Eastern region’s many locales as well as its various tribes and communities.
Singh reaffirmed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s commitment to bringing the North Eastern States up to par with other, more developed states of the nation through development.
The minister also informed the delegation, which included members of the Lai, Mara, and Chakma Autonomous District Councils, that PM Modi is eager to address the concerns of various tribes and communities in the North-Eastern Region with a human touch after they were long neglected and taken advantage of by Mizoram’s previous governments.
The Minister and the delegation members discussed a number of demands. According to Dr. Jitendra Singh, the Modi administration has always shown great consideration and compassion.
Meanwhile, the delegation also gave the minister a memo at this time.
Prominent members in the delegation included M. Laikaw, Chairman Lai Mara Chakma Coordination Committee, Nirupam Chakma, former Minister, Government of Mizoram, Delson Notlia, National Secretary, Minority Morcha, Sapliana Vandir, former MLA and T Zakunga, former CEM and MDC.
