Mizoram Districts Close Schools Amidst Torrential Rains and Minor Landslides

Northeast Desk, 20th August: In response to the ongoing heavy rainfall in Mizoram, the district administrations of Aizawl and Kolasib have announced the closure of all schools on Tuesday. The precautionary measure aims to protect students from potential dangers posed by the severe weather.

Since Monday, Aizawl and surrounding areas have been battered by relentless rain, leading to minor landslides in several locations. In light of these conditions, authorities deemed it necessary to suspend school operations to ensure the safety of children.

The state’s disaster management and rehabilitation department has reported no casualties so far. However, the continuous downpour has heightened concerns, prompting local authorities to remain vigilant and take preventive actions as needed.
