Mizoram: Drugs Worth Over Rs 8 Crore Seized
Guwahati: Police in the Lunglei district of Mizoram arrested two drug paddlers and recovered a sizable amount of illegal substances worth more than Rs 8.70 crore.
According to the Mizoram Police, on the basis of intelligence the Lunglei District Special Branch (DSB) squad launched an operation between Tlawng Bridge and Pukpui on Wednesday and apprehended two people in possession of 1.747 kg of heroin, which is worth Rs 8.735 crore on the black market.
The arrestees have been identified as Khupkhankual (25 years old) and Haudeihchin (25-year-old).
According to a senior police official, both of the people who have been arrested are from Vengthar Tlangnuam area of the Champhai district.
The two accused persons were accompanied by one juvenile also.
According to Section 21(c)/29 of the ND&PS Act and Section 78 of the JJ Act, a case has been opened at the Lunglei Police Station for further investigation into forward and backward linkages.
