Mizoram: Drunk Police Officer Shot Dead 2 Colleagues On Duty
Guwahati: In a tragic incident, a Mizoram Police constable fatally shot two of his on-duty coworkers on March 5 at around 6:40 pm.
The incident took place on Sunday night at the Buarchep oil palm camp located near the border between Assam and Mizoram.
The accused policeman who shot the duo have been identified as Bimal Kanti Chakma.
The two deceased officers have been identified as J. Lalrohlua and Indra Kumar Rai.
According to reports, the accused Bimal Kanti Chakma was drunk and got into a fight with Lalrohlua and Indra Kumar for unknown reasons. The argument got so out of control that Chakma pulled out his revolver and started shooting at the duo.
Chakma allegedly opened fire at the duo. Havildar J. Lalrohlua, Lunglei District died on the spot while the other havildar Indra Kumar of Lawngtlai District died on their way to the nearby hospital in Mizoram.
The police arrested murder accused Bimal Kanti Chakma soon after the incident.
A case has been registered in this matter and the police have launched inquiries to determine the exact causes of the heinous crime.
