Mizoram Fisheries Department and CYMA Renew Two-Year Agreement to Safeguard Riverine Wildlife
Northeast Desk, 29th January: The Fisheries department of Mizoram and the Central Young Mizo Association (CYMA) have reaffirmed their commitment to the protection of riverine wildlife by renewing a two-year cooperation agreement. The signing ceremony, held at the office of Fisheries Minister Pu Lalthansanga, marks the continuation of a successful collaboration initiated in 2021.
The partnership has been instrumental in preserving riverine wildlife in Mizoram, leveraging the Mizoram Fisheries Act, 2002, and the Mizoram Fisheries Rules, 2019. Strict regulations outlined in these legal frameworks have played a key role in ensuring the well-being of aquatic life.
During the event, the Central YMA acknowledged the outstanding efforts of three YMA branches and three groups in the realm of wildlife protection. Pu C. Lalzahngoa, Secretary of the Fisheries Department, presided over the event in the presence of Fisheries Minister Pu Lalthansanga.
The renewal of the agreement was formalized through the signatures of Pu F. Vanlallawma, Director of the Fisheries Department, and Pu Lalhmachhuana, President of CYMA. The commitment will remain in effect for the next two years, reflecting the ongoing dedication to the conservation of Mizoram’s riverine ecosystems.
