Mizoram Government Appoints Former Bureaucrat C Zodinpuii as New Chairperson of State Women’s Commission

Aizawl: The Mizoram government on Wednesday appointed C Zodinpuii, a former bureaucrat, as the new chairperson of the state women’s commission, according to officials.

Zodinpuii replaces C Lalchhandami, who stepped down in early September following protests by the Mizo National Front (MNF) and student organizations.

Zodinpuii holds a post-graduate degree in social work with a specialization in family and child welfare from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences in Mumbai.

During her tenure in government service, she served in various roles within the Social Welfare Department, retiring as its joint director in December 2023.

Her appointment is expected to bring new leadership and direction to the women’s commission, which plays a critical role in addressing women’s issues and welfare in Mizoram.
