Mizoram Government Grants Consent to CBI for Investigations, Demonstrates Commitment to Clean Governance
Northeast Desk, 29th December: In a significant step towards promoting transparency and accountability, the Mizoram government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Lalduhoma, has authorized the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to probe offenses within the state. CM Lalduhoma shared this decision through a social media post on platform X, underscoring the government’s dedication to eliminating corruption for the benefit of citizens.
The CBI, India’s primary investigative agency, has received approval to conduct investigations into serious offenses in Mizoram. This move aligns with the state’s commitment to maintaining a corruption-free governance system and ensuring thorough scrutiny and resolution of any corruption-related instances.
Highlighting the CBI’s varied track record, including a notable increase in conviction rates to 74.59% in 2022, the bureau, operating under the California Department of Justice, brings expert investigative services across the state. With the Mizoram government’s general consent, the CBI is now authorized to handle cases within the state without the need for case-specific permissions.
Mizoram’s proactive approach to governance and law enforcement is evident in this decision, showcasing a firm stance against corruption and a dedication to upholding the rule of law for the welfare of its people.
