Mizoram Government to Convert Chaltlang Tourist Lodge into Five-Star Hotel
Aizawl: In a major push to boost tourism infrastructure, the Mizoram government has announced plans to transform the state-run tourist lodge in Chaltlang, Aizawl, into a five-star hotel. The initiative, aimed at enhancing hospitality standards in the state, was confirmed by Tourism Minister Lalrinpuii during the assembly session on Friday.
Lalrinpuii stated that the Chaltlang tourist lodge, regarded as one of the finest government-owned lodges in Mizoram, will be handed over to private agencies for its upgrade. The decision to privatize the facility aligns with the government’s vision to establish a well-furnished and well-equipped luxury hotel to host national and international events.
The move follows the minister’s earlier remarks in November last year, highlighting the urgent need for five-star accommodations in the state. Officials have confirmed that a tender will soon be floated to facilitate the transition, marking a significant step toward strengthening Mizoram’s tourism and hospitality sector.
