Mizoram Governor Extends Greetings on Statehood Day, Calls for Unity and Progress

Aizawl: On the occasion of Mizoram Statehood Day 2025, Governor Gen (Dr) Vijay Kumar Singh, PVSM, AVSM, YSM (Retd), extended his warm wishes to the people of the state, commemorating the historic milestone achieved on February 20, 1987, when Mizoram became the 23rd state of India.

Reflecting on the significance of the day, the Governor paid tribute to the resilience, unity, and aspirations of the Mizo people. He underscored the importance of the Mizoram Peace Accord, signed on June 30, 1986, calling it one of India’s most successful peace agreements that paved the way for lasting peace and development in the region.

Since attaining statehood, Mizoram has made remarkable progress in various sectors, including education, healthcare, infrastructure, and sustainable development. The Governor lauded the state’s rich cultural heritage and its harmonious society, which continue to inspire the nation.

Emphasizing the Central Government’s Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat initiative, he highlighted the importance of fostering unity in diversity by promoting mutual understanding among different states and Union Territories. He encouraged the people of Mizoram to embrace and appreciate diverse traditions while preserving their unique cultural identity.

As Mizoram celebrates this significant occasion, the Governor urged its citizens to renew their commitment to progress and align with the vision of Vikshit Bharat 2047, a roadmap for a developed India. He concluded by calling on every individual to contribute towards preserving India’s rich diversity and working collectively towards a brighter and more prosperous future.
