Mizoram Governor Honors Assam Rifles Personnel for Outstanding Service

Aizawl: Mizoram Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati felicitated 35 Assam Rifles personnel for their exceptional performance in the line of duty during a distinguished Investiture Ceremony held at the Circular Lawn of Raj Bhavan on December 13.

The event, organized under the aegis of Inspector General Assam Rifles (East), recognized the recipients with Governor’s Gold and Silver Medals for the year 2024.

Governor Kambhampati presented 15 Gold Medals and 20 Silver Medals to the awardees, commending their unwavering commitment and dedication to the nation. In his address, the Governor praised the Assam Rifles, one of India’s oldest paramilitary forces, for their enduring service and their reputation as the “Friends of the Hill People” for their contributions to the safety and welfare of local communities.

Highlighting the Assam Rifles’ critical role in combating challenges in the region, Governor Kambhampati lauded the efforts of the 23 Sector Assam Rifles in tackling the drug menace. He noted their remarkable success in seizing contraband and drugs worth several crores, recovering arms consignments, and apprehending insurgents. These achievements, he said, exemplify their dedication to safeguarding the region and upholding national security.

The Governor also acknowledged the Assam Rifles’ initiatives in promoting development and enhancing public welfare through Civil Action Projects, which have significantly benefited local communities. He encouraged the awardees to use their recognition as motivation to continue their dedicated service and to inspire others in their ranks.

The ceremony celebrated the valor and commitment of the Assam Rifles personnel, reflecting their vital role in maintaining peace and fostering progress in Mizoram and beyond.
