Mizoram Governor Participates in Virtual Inauguration of Key Infrastructure Projects

Aizawl – Mizoram Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati participated on October 12 in the virtual inauguration of 75 infrastructure projects executed by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO), valued at Rs 2,236 crores. The inauguration ceremony was led by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh from Sikkim and aimed to enhance national security and improve connectivity in remote border regions.

Among the newly inaugurated projects, the 125-meter long Ngengpuilui Bridge on the Lawngtlai-Diltlang-Parva Road was specifically dedicated to Mizoram. This strategic bridge facilitates access to the Indo-Bangladesh and Indo-Myanmar borders, significantly improving connectivity for local residents.

The 75 projects include 22 roads, 51 bridges, 1 helipad, and 1 permanent accommodation, all constructed under challenging conditions across11 States and Union Territories. The initiative aligns with India’s commitment to developing border areas, enhancing both military preparedness and economic opportunities for local communities.

Additionally, the Project Pushpak based in Aizawl contributed two of the inaugurated projects, including the Ngengpuilui Bridge and a new North-South Road in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Over the past year, Project Pushpak has successfully completed six infrastructure projects, consisting of three roads and three permanent bridges.

Governor Kambhampati expressed his optimism regarding the long-term benefits these projects will bring to Mizoram, emphasizing their role in strengthening infrastructure and promoting development in the region.
