Mizoram: Heroin Seized in Kolasib District, 2 arrested
Northeast Desk, 26th January: Authorities from the Excise and Narcotics Department have made significant drug seizures in Mizoram’s Kolasib district on January 25 and 26.
On the evening of January 25, a total of 1.53 kilograms of heroin (equivalent to 96 soap cases) were seized from Kapthanruma (42) and Lalruatkima (51), residents of Myanmar and Kolasib District respectively.
The individuals were found in possession of the heroin, and a Maruti Eeco Van with registration number MZ-06-A-0057, used for transporting the drugs, was also apprehended.
In the early hours of January 26, an additional 261.370 grams of heroin (13 soap cases) were seized at Bairabi Road, Rengtekawn in Kolasib District.
All individuals involved have been charged under the Narcotic Drugs & Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 and have been taken to court.
The Excise and Narcotics Department officials emphasized that the seized drugs were intended for sale outside of Mizoram.
