Mizoram Home Minister Undertakes Border Inspection, Emphasizes National Security Measures
Northeast Desk, 22nd December: K Sapdanga, the recently appointed Home Minister of Mizoram, conducted an inspection of the border areas between Mizoram and Assam. The home minister visited various border duty posts, including Phaisen, Aitlang, Saiphai, Saihapui V, Buarchep, and Vairengte Auto Stand, accompanied by officials.
During the inspection, the Home Minister expressed pride in the soldiers ensuring the safety of Mizoram’s people and announced the new government’s commitment to addressing concerns about national security, particularly focusing on combating drug smuggling. He emphasized, “We have a responsibility to protect the nation from drugs,” urging collective efforts to fortify the government.
As a gesture of appreciation, Home Minister K Sapdanga greeted border duty soldiers and presented them with Christmas gifts. He highlighted the government’s determination to achieve the Chief Minister’s 100-day objectives, emphasizing the significance of collective efforts.
Regarding the boundary issue, Sapdanga reiterated that the government’s stance remains rooted in the Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation of 1875 (BEFR 1875). He announced plans to establish a committee shortly to address the boundary matter, reaffirming the government’s commitment to resolving the issue.
