Mizoram: Indo-Bangladesh Joint Boundary Inspection Underway in Lunglei
Lunglei: A crucial Indo-Bangladesh Joint Boundary Inspection commenced in Mizoram’s Lunglei district as part of the 2024-2025 field survey season, following agreements made during the 45th Joint Boundary Conference held in Kolkata from November 12 to 14, 2024.
To mark the occasion, Lunglei Deputy Commissioner Pi Navneet Mann hosted a lunch meeting at the Circuit House, Lunglei, with representatives from both countries.
The Indian delegation, led by Pu Uday Shanker Prasad, Director of the West Bengal & Sikkim Geo-spatial Directorate, Survey of India, consists of six members.
Meanwhile, the Bangladeshi team, comprising seven members, is headed by Brigadier General Nur-E-Alam Mohammad Sobayer Sarwar, Surveyor General of Bangladesh.
The joint inspection is scheduled from February 4 to 10, 2025, covering Indian territory until February 7, before shifting to Bangladeshi territory from February 7 to 10.
Key activities include reviewing the progress of fieldwork, verifying boundary pillars between MP 2359 and MP 2360, and addressing pending observations from the 2019-2020 field season, which remained uninspected due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The team will also issue guidelines to survey teams for the successful completion of the 2024-2025 boundary survey fieldwork, reinforcing cross-border cooperation and territorial integrity.
