Mizoram Launches HIV/AIDS Training Programme and Rubber Mission to Foster Health and Agriculture
Aizawl: In a bid to tackle critical health and agricultural challenges, Mizoram witnessed two significant launches this week, marking efforts to empower both communities and farmers.
On *December 17, the Director of the Mizoram State Aids Control Society (MSACS), Dr. Lalthlengliani, inaugurated a training programme and manual booklet on HIV/AIDS awareness at Royale Lalawi Hotel, Aizawl. The initiative, spearheaded by the Young Women Christian Association (YWCA) of Aizawl in collaboration with UNAIDS, MSACS, the CDC, and a steering committee representing various churches, aims to educate and foster empathy for individuals living with HIV/AIDS.
The training manual, developed by YWCA Aizawl, along with contributors Rev. H Lalthlamuana, Rev. Dr. Vanlalruata, and Dr. Lalchhanhima Ralte, is designed to create greater awareness and combat stigma surrounding HIV/AIDS. Officials emphasized the importance of community involvement and compassionate education in addressing the challenges faced by patients and their families.
Earlier, on December 16, Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma launched the Mizoram Chief Minister’s Rubber Mission at Dawrpui Multipurpose Hall, Aizawl, an ambitious initiative aimed at transforming the state’s agricultural sector.
In his address, CM Lalduhoma reflected on the challenges that Mizoram’s farmers have faced in the past, with unsuccessful ventures into various crops and plantations eroding trust in government-led agricultural programs.
The Rubber Mission seeks to provide farmers with a sustainable and profitable agricultural option, leveraging Mizoram’s climate and soil conditions. Lalduhoma expressed confidence that the initiative would rejuvenate faith in government schemes and significantly boost the state’s rural economy.
The back-to-back launches underline Mizoram’s focused approach toward addressing both public health concerns and economic empowerment for farmers. While the HIV/AIDS programme targets awareness and empathy, the Rubber Mission sets the stage for long-term agricultural development, offering renewed hope to communities across the state.
