Mizoram Launches Women Entrepreneurship Platform to Empower Women-Led Development
Aizawl: A state-level workshop on women-led development through entrepreneurship was held at Mizoram University Auditorium, marking a significant step towards women’s economic empowerment.
The event saw the official launch of the Women Entrepreneurship Platform (WEP) Mizoram Chapter by Chief Minister Pu Lalduhoma, with Dr VK Paul, Member of NITI Aayog, attending as the guest of honour.
Mizoram has become the first northeastern state to establish a WEP chapter, with the Chief Minister acknowledging NITI Aayog’s initiative.
The state government has also launched the Bana Kaih Scheme to support young and aspiring entrepreneurs, with 517 Progress Partners selected, including 140 women.
Dr VK Paul commended Mizoram’s women for their entrepreneurial drive and financial independence, describing WEP as a crucial tool for economic growth.
He urged women entrepreneurs to leverage the platform’s resources, stressing the national importance of women’s empowerment.
The event saw the launch of several WEP initiatives, including the WEP State Chapter Mizoram Yashasvani Program, Swavalambini Program, WEP Award to Reward Programme, WEP App, and Awards to Women Entrepreneurs. Key officials addressed the gathering, underscoring the importance of women-led businesses.
The workshop continued with discussions on strengthening women’s role in entrepreneurship and economic growth, aiming to drive women’s participation in business and contribute to the national vision of Viksit Bharat.
