Northeast Desk, 24th January: The personnel of Lengpui Airport’s Airports Authority of India (AAI) Fire Station on January 23 emerged as unsung heroes when a Myanmar Air Force aircraft faced a perilous situation during its landing.

The incident unfolded at 10:19 AM, as the aircraft skidded off to the left side of the runway at Lengpui Airport. In response, a Full Emergency was declared, prompting the AAI Fire Station duty personnel to swiftly act with their Crash Fire Tender.

Acting without hesitation, the firefighters reached the accident site and efficiently extinguished the fuming engine, preventing a potential disaster by averting the aircraft from catching fire. With fuel leaking from the damaged aircraft, they skillfully addressed the situation, applying foam to control the leakage.

Amidst the chaos, a dedicated team of firefighters entered the plane, successfully rescuing all 14 Myanmar Air Force crew members on board. Notably, eight crew members who sustained injuries during the incident were promptly transported to Lengpui Primary Health Center for immediate medical attention.
