Aizawl: Voting for 110 local councils and 534 village councils across nine districts in Mizoram is currently underway.
The State Election Commissioner, H. Lalthlangliana, confirmed that polling began at 7 am and will continue until 4 pm.
Elections for two councils were rescheduled due to the death of candidates.
Mr. Lalthlangliana reported no law and order issues so far. Counting of votes will commence at 7 pm or immediately after voting concludes at all polling stations.
A total of 6,828 candidates are contesting the village council elections, while 2,076 are vying for seats in the local council polls.
The SEC reported 4,41,431 voters in village councils and 2,03,837 in local councils.
