Mizoram: Massive Seizure of Foreign Liquor and Cigarettes on India-Myanmar Border
Northeast Desk, 26th October: In a significant operation close to the India-Myanmar border, authorities have successfully seized foreign liquor and cigarettes with an estimated value of Rs 26.68 lakh. This impressive feat was accomplished by the joint efforts of Assam Rifles (AR) troopers and Mizoram customs officials, acting on crucial information.
Following a tip-off, the combined team embarked on a mission along the Zokhawthar-Melbuk Road in Champhai district. Their diligent efforts resulted in the discovery of six cases of foreign liquor and 21 cases of foreign cigarettes.
The seized contraband has been promptly handed over to the Customs department for further legal proceedings, as per the official statement. This operation not only prevents the illegal distribution of these goods but also safeguards the economic and social interests of the region.
The authorities continue their relentless pursuit to maintain law and order and prevent illicit activities near the border, ensuring the security and well-being of the local community.
