Mizoram MP Pushes BRO for Swift Project Completion, Land Dispute Resolution
New Delhi: Mizoram’s sole Lok Sabha MP, Richard Vanlalhmangaiha, has urged the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) to ramp up its ongoing infrastructure projects in the state and address long-standing land acquisition disputes. The appeal came during a crucial meeting with BRO Director General Lt. Gen. Raghu Srinivasan in New Delhi on Tuesday.
During the discussion, Richard emphasised the need for the rapid completion of crucial road construction and other infrastructure works, specifically highlighting the resumption of stalled concrete bridge projects. He also sought the Director General’s personal intervention to resolve land acquisition issues that have been hindering progress in the Lawngtlai, Siaha, and Champhai districts.
The MP didn’t stop there. He also pressed for the immediate disbursement of an outstanding additional compensation amount of ₹82 lakh. This compensation is linked to the ongoing Tipa–Laki–Lope–Lopu (LTTT) road project, a vital artery in southern Mizoram.
In a promising response, Lt. Gen. Srinivasan assured the MP that the BRO would take swift action to fast-track all current and upcoming projects. He also gave his word that the compensation dues would be settled and the land disputes resolved. To show his personal commitment, the Director General pledged to visit Mizoram soon to personally inspect the progress of the ongoing works. This assurance offers a glimmer of hope for the state’s infrastructure development and the affected residents.
