Mizoram: One Myanmar national held with 17 kgs of meth in Aizawl

Northeast Desk, 18th February: The Excise and Narcotics Department of Mizoram, in collaboration with the Young Mizo Association, on February 17 made a major seizure of over 17 kilograms of methamphetamine in Aizawl’s Bawngkawn Brigade locality.

The confiscated haul comprised 1 kilogram and 30 grams of crystal methamphetamine along with 16 kilograms and 105 grams, equivalent to 1,66,000 tablets, of methamphetamine.

A Myanmar national known as Hrangtinkhara, also recognized as Robert or Duhzuala, was apprehended in connection with the seizure. Hrangtinkhara, currently residing in the Bawngkawn Brigade locality, originally hails from Tahan Pinlung, Kalemyo District, Myanmar.

Further investigations uncovered that the drugs were smuggled from Myanmar with the intent of being distributed beyond Mizoram’s borders.

Charges have been filed against Hrangtinkhara under the Narcotic Drugs & Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985, and a case has been initiated to address the matter.
