Guwahati: A pregnant woman died of electrocution while she was trying to save her pet dog in Lawngtlai district of Mizoram.
The incident took place in Chikhurlui village of the district where a seven months pregnant lady namely Sukki aged 32 years along with her one-year-old per dog colled ‘Thawkcha’ was electrocuted.
It may be mentioned that when the woman and her dog were on their way to carry wood to earn money for the day, the dog came into contact with a stray wire from an electric pole and was electrocuted.
Sukki reportedly ran to her dog’s aid and attempted to save him. Regrettably, she was electrocuted as well. They both perished on the scene.
The 32-year-body, old’s as well as her clothes, were burned, according to witnesses, and Thawkcha had burn marks on areas of his body.
It is claimed that the power department’s incompetence resulted in the deaths of people.
