Mizoram Revokes Model Code of Conduct Following Local Council Elections

Aizawl: The Mizoram State Election Commission (SEC) has officially revoked the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) with effect from 12 noon on February 15. This follows the successful completion of the vote counting and declaration of results for the General Election to Village Councils and Local Councils, 2025.

The results for the election were declared on February 13 and 14 across all districts of Mizoram: Aizawl, Lunglei, Serchhip, Champhai, Kolasib, Mamit, Saitual, Khawzawl, and Hnahthial. With the electoral process now concluded, the SEC has lifted the restrictions imposed by the MCC.

This action is in accordance with the powers vested in the SEC under the Mizoram (Election to Village Councils) Rules, 2014, and The Mizoram Municipalities (Election to Local Councils) Rules, 2015, as amended. The revocation of the MCC signifies the official end of the election-related restrictions on political parties, candidates, and public office holders in all districts of the state.
