Mizoram Secretary Urges Digital Transformation and Tourism Push in Siaha

Siaha– Amit Sharma, Secretary to the Mizoram government for the Department of Information & Communication Technology (ICT) and the Cooperation Department, recently concluded a significant visit to Siaha, engaging in detailed discussions with district officials. His trip underscored the state’s push towards digital governance and harnessing the region’s tourism potential.

Abraham Beirazi Khithie, the Additional Deputy Commissioner, presided over the meeting, offering a concise overview of Siaha district’s profile, including its inherent strengths, untapped potential, and prevailing challenges.

Secretary Sharma lauded the “outstanding” condition of the lone District Hospital during his unannounced visit earlier in the day, expressing a hope that other departments would emulate such high standards. Emphasising the critical role of paperless governance, he highlighted the state government’s drive to implement e-Office systems across all departments, with plans to extend this to field offices and make Block-level offices completely paperless. This move is part of a broader strategy to promote and implement e-governance standards and digital transformation initiatives throughout Mizoram.

Extensive deliberations were held with various heads of offices within the district, who presented their achievements, outlined action plans, and articulated the challenges and issues they face. Secretary Sharma assured them of the government’s full commitment to address and mitigate each of these concerns. He also stressed the immense revenue-generating potential of tourism, urging officials to actively promote Siaha’s scenic beauty to attract visitors and boost the local economy.

The Secretary encouraged all present to work collaboratively towards the district’s development and poverty alleviation, extending his best wishes for their collective success. He was accompanied by H Vanhlupuia, Deputy Registrar, Cooperation Department; Lalengzuala, Informatics Officer, ICT; and Lalmuanawma, DB Admin, MEeGS.
