SERCHHIP: Serchhip, Mizoram, is set to become the center of global attention as it gears up to host the International Paragliding Accuracy Championship 2024 from December 9 to 13.
The event will welcome 60 top paragliders from India and 13 other countries, promising an exhilarating showcase of skill and precision.
Preparations for the championship are in full swing, with Serchhip District Commissioner Pu Paul L. Khuma recently convening a crucial meeting to finalize logistical arrangements. Representatives from government departments, MASA Serchhip Headquarters, and other stakeholders discussed key operational aspects, including the identification of a primary take-off point. A backup location, managed by the Public Works Department (PWD), was also designated to ensure smooth proceedings.
Security and traffic management are being meticulously planned, with the Serchhip Police and Traffic Police playing pivotal roles. Medical assistance will be provided by the 42nd Assam Rifles, BSF, and NSS Govt. Serchhip College, ensuring the safety of participants and attendees.
The championship will be hosted at Zawlpui Leilet, a venue that will also celebrate Mizoram’s cultural heritage. Displays of local produce and handicrafts by the Horticulture Department and an exhibition by the Fisheries Department will offer visitors a glimpse into the region’s rich traditions. The PHE Department will ensure the availability of clean water and sanitation facilities throughout the event.
In addition to the competition, the event will feature a free concert, hot air balloon rides, and various entertainment options aimed at boosting Serchhip’s appeal as a hub for both adventure sports and cultural tourism.
This prestigious championship is expected to draw significant attention from both domestic and international audiences, positioning Serchhip as a prime destination for adventure and culture. With breathtaking landscapes and a vibrant atmosphere, the International Paragliding Accuracy Championship 2024 promises to leave a lasting impression.
