Mizoram State Level NCORD Meeting Addresses Rising Narcotics Challenges
Northeast Desk, 16th January: In the 6th State Level NCORD Meeting held on January 15, 2024, under the leadership of Pi Renu Sharma, Chief Secretary of Mizoram and Chairperson of State Level NCORD, key issues related to narcotics were addressed.
The meeting, coordinated by Veenu Bansal, IPS, IGP (Intel.), discussed the importance of the District Level NCORD meetings in tackling narcotics challenges at the grassroots level. Anil Shukla, DGP, Mizoram, highlighted a significant increase in drug seizures in the state, citing 987 NDPS cases registered in 2023.
He emphasized the need for vigilance against drug traffickers adapting innovative routes. Various departments, including NCB, Mizoram ANTF, SW & TA dept., Assam Rifles, MSCAC, and DCs/SsP of vulnerable districts, presented Action Taken Reports and plans of action to combat drug trafficking.
The meeting, attended by 19 members physically and several others virtually, aimed to strengthen measures against the evolving tactics of drug traffickers.
