Mizoram Stone Quarry Collapse: 11 Bodies Recovered So Far

Guwahati: As many as three more bodies have been recovered from the debris of the stone quarry which collapsed at Maudarh village in Hnahthial district of Mizoram on Tuesday, informed Additional Deputy Commissioner Saizikpuii.

The Additional Deputy Commissioner said, “Eleven bodies have been found thus far, and one person is still missing.”

Teams from the BSF, Assam Rifles, NDRF, state police and district administration are conducting a search operation to find the body of the remaining persons.

The bodies of eight migrant workers were found earlier on Tuesday morning.

According to reports, the incident involving the stone quarry collapse occured on Monday at around 2.40 pm. A massive earth slide occurred after a stone quarry collapsed near Maudarh in the Hnahthial area, approximately 35 kilometres from Lunglei.

Border Security Force (BSF) and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) carried out rescue operations at the spot of the incident by a team made up of the state police.
