Mizoram: Three feared dead after stone quarry collapses in Mamit

Northeast Desk, 20th December: In a tragic incident, three workers allegedly feared dead after a stone quarry collapse in Mamit district of Mizoram.

The incident occurred at the Zathanga quarry in Mamit’s Pukzing sector, trapping an excavator and two operators, along with one helper laborer under debris.

Currently, rescue operations are in progress.

As per reports, the workers, employed by the SLP Company, are non-Mizo, and their identities are yet to be officially confirmed.

This incident follows a similar tragedy in November 2022 when a mine collapse near Muardarh village in Hnahthial district claimed the lives of 12 workers.
