Mizoram Unleashes Unstoppable Force, Sails into U20 National Championship Quarter-Finals

Guwahati, Assam – In a stunning display of attacking prowess, Mizoram decimated Tripura with an astounding 11-1 victory today at the Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama Stadium, securing their coveted place in the quarter-finals of the Swami Vivekananda Men’s U20 National Football Championship. The emphatic win propels Mizoram to the summit of Group D, boasting a perfect nine points from their three matches, a tally that leaves them untouchable in the race for the top eight.

The first half hinted at a closer contest, with Mizoram holding a slender 2-1 advantage. However, the second half witnessed an extraordinary offensive explosion as Mizoram’s young guns fired on all cylinders, netting an incredible nine goals. The Tripura defense crumbled under the relentless pressure, with Mesak Lalrinngheta and PC Pazawna leading the charge, each remarkably bagging four goals. Michael Lalbiaksanga contributed a brace, while Ngurthanmawia added his name to the scoresheet. Tripura managed a lone consolation goal courtesy of Sukha Dayal Jamatia.

Meanwhile, in the other Group D encounter, Jharkhand narrowly defeated Himachal Pradesh 2-1. Chandra Mohan Soy drew first blood for Jharkhand in the early stages of the match, but Himachal Pradesh fought back, with Aryan Thakur finding the equalizer in the second half. Jharkhand, however, had the final say as Daksh Kumar Mahli struck shortly after to secure the win.

Despite Maharashtra and Tripura also holding six points each, Mizoram’s commanding performance and superior head-to-head record ensure their firm grip on the top spot in Group D. Their dominant showing today sends a clear message to the remaining contenders as the championship progresses to its crucial knockout stage.
