Mizoram: Voting to be held again in Aizawl South-III constituency
Northeast Desk, 9th November: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has taken the decision to conduct re-polling in the Aizawl South-III (ST) assembly constituency due to an issue with the electronic voting machine (EVM).
The voting recorded through the EVM has been considered void due to a deviation from the proper procedure.
The Mizoram Election 2023 had concluded with an approximate 77.73 percent voter turnout for the 40 assembly seats.
Following a report from the Returning Officer for the 20-Aizawl South III (ST) constituency, the ECI issued a notice to the Chief Election Officer (CEO) of Mizoram, instructing the CEO to ensure widespread publicity in the affected polling station areas.
This will be done through methods like drum beating or other convenient modes.
The CEO will also provide directions to the concerned officials to conduct the re-polling smoothly.
